Baked Reuben Dip

Unfortunately, this year Jesse and I are not able to fly home to Ohio for the holidays. It felt a little strange to not have ANY Christmas parties to attend this year, so we had to do something about that. In order to keep the Christmas spirit alive we decided to host our own party. When planning the party I thought there were 2 directions I could go in – fancy shmancy dinner party or classic family style, with lots of old stand-by favorite appetizers. Then I realized there was no real competition, classic family style won!

The party was on Saturday and we had a really great time. Just a few close friends gathered around a table full of my favorite appetizers, desserts, and of course a batch of egg nog. This dip was one of the big hits at the party. There’s something about this combination of ingredients that even non-sauerkraut fans can love. In fact, one of my guests had to change her seat because she was afraid she would eat all of the dip herself if she sat in front of it!

    JESSICA,
This receipe looks absolutely scrumptious. We love Reuben Sandwiches and will really enjoy this dip and I bet this will be so wonderful on Triscuits as they have so, so many new flavors with great herbs in them! Thank you for sharing this receipe. SUPER BOWL SUNDAY with so many party’s going on should latch onto this one. And it’s easy to make.

I have one of those “stupid” questions, but where in the store do you find sauerkraut? I have never eaten it or bought it. I know I am behind but I am going to a st. patricks day party and want to take something different for an appetizer. this sounds interesting. Please let me know more about this.

Sorry for the delay in my response! You can usually find sauerkraut in bags near the sausages, in jars near the pickles, or in cans with the canned vegetables.

      Good luck!

DO YOU JUST LAYER SWISS CHEESE OR IS IT SHREDDED AND PUT INTO THE CASSEROLE AND THEN ON TOP OR LEFT WHOLE

It is shredded, but not layered, just all mixed together!

I’ve made this before. It is so yummy. The hardest part is not eating it all before getting it to the table. When I make it, I use a combination of shredded swiss and diced swiss. The not-quite-melted diced swiss cheese is my favorite part. 🙂
