Weekend Dish is a place for me to get a little more personal! If you just come to Sunny Side Up for the food, feel free to skip this post but be sure to check back next week for new food photos and recipes!
First, and most importantly, sorry for the blog static lately. I hate going so long between posts, unfortunately, life has been all sorts of crazy lately. So here is what is going on –
When Jesse and I first found out that we were expecting we had sort of tossed around the idea that it would be nice to move back closer to family and friends. As much as we love San Diego, we knew that eventually we would want our little girl to be able to spend time with her grandparents, and aunts, and great grandparents, and great aunts and uncles. Then, “eventually” came sooner than we expected. There was downsizing at Jesse’s company. Although we were both shocked and saddened by the news, we also felt that this must be fate. Everything happens for a reason. (At least that’s what we’re hoping!)
At first our plan was to stay in San Diego for a little while. Then with me getting further along into the pregnancy and us having a trip already planned to visit, we decided if we were going to do it, now was the time. So within 2 weeks we made the decision to move to back to Ohio, packed up our apartment (all by ourselves as pretty much all of our friends were out of town!!), arranged for new leasers for our apartment, made plans for our cars, cats, and stuff, and moved. Needless to say, it’s been CRAZY!!
So that’s that. We are now in Ohio and thankful to have the whole moving madness behind us (though we will need to move and unpack once our Uboxes arrive).
In pregnancy related news, my mom, sister, best friend, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law threw an absolutely gorgeous baby shower for me today! I was completely overwhelmed with the generosity and love my family and friends showered me with. Seriously. Overwhelmed and blessed and just grateful. Big huge thank you to everyone that was a part of our special day.
If you made it through all of that you should really treat yourself to a cookie! As promised on Facebook, I will return to posting food and food photos! I have several things lined up for the coming weeks. Thank you for hanging in there with me!
Congrats on a successful move! It’s a pain to move, but it will be worth it in the end! 🙂 I hope you end up sharing some of your baby shower photos! 🙂
Jess, I’m so saddened that you guys had to move from SD and before we could re-connect again. But more importantly, I’m so happy that you guys are near family and friends for baby Maeve. Can’t wait to see baby shower photos.
That is MADNESS and I cannot even imagine doing that. But, welcome back to Ohio! It sounds like you’ll have a ton of help with your family here but let me know if you ever need anything. Would be great to meet IRL and maybe have a play date for our LOs sometime since they’ll be so close in age :).
