Weekend Dish – 7/21

Weekend Dish is a place for me to get a little more personal! If you just come to Sunny Side Up for the food, feel free to skip this post but be sure to check back this week for new food photos and recipes!

We are finally in our new apartment and settling into life in our new city. It felt great to make dinner every night! I even managed to make (and photograph!!) a few things for the blog.

Blog Recap –

Chicken Tamale Pie from Scratch was soooooo good! The slightly sweet cornbread crust was the perfect match for the salty flavorful enchilada sauce. Huge hit.

Baked Garlic Rice Pilaf has been a staple in our house for years. A perfect companion to all sorts of main course proteins.

Pregnancy Update –

Almost 34 weeks! Eek!! See that skirt? Yeah, that’s pretty much my favorite thing to wear these days. It’s soooo comfy I think I could wear it every day from now on. 🙂

As I mentioned in the last Weekend Dish, we started putting the nursery together! This week we put together the Pack n’ Play and swing/bouncy seat. We still need to get a glider/rocker and decide on a dresser, then we can get down to the really fun stuff – decorating! My BFF and I actually already made a few crafts and I can’t wait to show you the results for those. I think baby’s room is going to be better decorated than our own bedroom!

The new kitchen –

My new kitchen isn’t quite as big as my last kitchen, but it is actually pretty functional. The biggest thing it is lacking is storage space. Of course I probably have more kitchen stuff than the average person… Luckily there is a hall closet right around the corner and there is a bit of extra storage space there. One day I’ll have a really big kitchen with a huge island and top of the line appliances, but for now I’ll make it work in my quaint little galley kitchen. 🙂

My week through Instagram –

kitcatslookingup

Nothing to see here. Just 2 kitty cats hanging out. Not waiting for a piece of bacon to fall.

lake

San Diego obviously had some beautiful scenic views, but the natural parks and lakes around here aren’t too bad either!

chopsticks

Unpacking my kitchen I realized I might have a slight obsession with chopsticks…

That’s a wrap! Thank you so much for stopping by and reading. Stop by tomorrow for a fresh  new recipe!
